A Community
JOYA Scholars' mission is to inspire and prepare students from families of low-income communities in Fullerton, California, to succeed through higher education.
The Garnet neighborhood of Fullerton is made up of five small blocks on the east side of the city. More than 1,200 children from working-class families make this community their home.
When JOYA Scholars emerged over ten years ago, this community was marked by one startling statistic: No college graduate had emerged from Garnet in more than a decade. Today there are JOYA Scholars at four-year universities as well as local community colleges. JOYA Scholars have graduated with Bachelors, Masters and even doctoral degrees.
Your contribution will go directly to support JOYA Scholars college readiness programs.
